On Tuesday, game developer WayForward Technologies announced Watch Quest, “the first adventure game made exclusively for Apple Watch.” The game will make use of both the Apple Watch and the iPhone, as players will choose their characters and equip them with gear on the iPhone app and then send them on a journey filled with monsters, puzzles and treasures on the Apple Watch.
The game will be free to download with one training quest, but you’ll have to pay for Quest Packs with more characters and campaigns from within the iPhone app. Depending the difficulty of the quest you choose to embark on, you will be able to play more passively or actively.
The studio is describing the game–Watch Quest!: Heroes of Time–as the “initial adventure game created exclusively for Apple Watch.” WayForward says Watch Quest! Is a “new kind of game expertise.” That’s for positive.
“Gameplay revolves about selecting a hero and equipping them on the iPhone, and then guiding the Hero by way of the Apple Watch as he or she travels lands, battles monsters, solves puzzles, and searches for treasures,” WayForward explains. “Players are invited to play passively by selecting longer, less complicated quests and outfitting the hero up front–or by taking on far more tough quests which call for foraging for things as you go.”
